Liam Hughes

Liam Hughes

Position: Midfielder

Born: 10th August 1992

An attaching midfielder who made 177 appearances for Cambridge United scoring 14 goals, the vastly experienced Hughes signed for Darlington after the end of the 2017/18 season.

A scorer for Cambridge at Wembley when they returned to the Football League by beating Gateshead 2-1 in 2014, Liam also played against Manchester United in the FA Cup the following year. He also played for Cambridge in the 2014 FA Trophy final when they beat Gosport Borough 4-0.

He then moved on to the Scottish Premiership with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in January 2016 and made 11 appearances for them, before returning to England and signing for Barrow, for whom he made 42 appearances in the National League.

After a brief spell at Guiseley, he then moved to Essex and joined Billericay, helping them to promotion from the Bostik League last season.

Liam can also play in the centre of defence -- he played as an emergency centre half in the 3-0 win against Telford United and was the Man of the Match.
