Exciting prospect added to squad
Darlington F.C Women are delighted to announce the signing of Annie Anderson.
Annie, who just turned 16 on Wednesday, has been at the club since 2019 first joining at U9s. Annie started her football journey with Hurworth Juniors F.C playing in a mixed/boys team. Annie then joined Darlington F.C Youth at U9s and has played through the age groups and still plays for the clubs U16 girls side. As well as playing for the Quakers throughout her youth, Annie joined the Newcastle United Girls PDC and spent four years there from 2020-2024.
An exciting young attacking minded player, Annie will wear the number 11 shirt this season. Annie is now the 15th player to have signed for the Women’s team having come through the pathway of the youth section.
Annie had the following to say on signing for the Quaker Women: “I am really excited about the opportunity to sign for Darlington F.C Women and be part of a team where I can continue to develop as a player and challenge myself in the women’s game.”
Manager Shaun Mackenzie had the following to say: “I am really happy that Annie has chosen to sign for us as she will not have been shy of offers in the women’s game. She has a lot of talent and massive potential to go far in the game. I was there for her first ever game for Darlington as a 9 year old and remember it well. I’ve obviously kept tabs on her progress throughout the years and it’s been excellent to see her develop as a player and continue to enjoy her football. She’s technically gifted and has always scored goals regardless of where she’s playing. We won’t put too much pressure on her having only just turned 16, but I think we can expect big things for Annie once she finds her feet and settles in.”
