Darlington Wearside Youth Under 13s 9 Harton and Westoe Under 13s 0

The game kicked off at 12:12 PM and by 12:14 PM Darlington Youth found the back of the Harton net. Darlington started the match with the kick off and the ball was passed out to the Darlington wing and was collected by Darlington’s Lucas Reed who passed the ball to Finn Illingworth at the corner who made a run to the left side of the Harton box and crossed a low ball to the right boot of Daren Robertson who neatly ‘passed’ the ball into the Harton goal.

Darlington Wearside Youth U13 1 – Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

The re-start saw both teams settling down with some composed passing and some good directions being given by Jamie Dodds at the back/mid-field. Lucas Reed was tremendous and solid on the left at the back and maintained this effort throughout the game with some great distribution by the whole Darlington team. This again was rewarded on the 23 minutes mark which saw some great triangle play between Tommy Hunt to Daren Robertson back to Tommy Hunt who again found the back of the Harton goal.

Darlington Wearside youth U13 2 – Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

The Harton team found it difficult to penetrate the Darlington defence and mid-field and could not deal with the quickness of the ‘closing down’ of the Darlington team overall and again on 27 minutes Darlington were rewarded with a corner ball which was taken by Dom Agnew and was received by Jaxon Briggs who, with his usual calmness fired the ball into the net, giving the goal-keeper no chance.

Darlington Wearside Youth U13 3 – Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

Darlington continued to attack the Harton goal and saw several shots go wide and over the bar. The Harton team did not seem to have a recognised ‘hard’ kicker which meant that their goal kicks and free kicks did not generally clear the half way line and the Darlington team were quicker to re-act to this and generally restricted the Harton team to their half of the pitch and again on 34 minutes Darlington had another corner kick. Dom Agnew crossed a high ball from the corner which found the head of Jamie Dodds and the ball fell to the feet of Jamie Gibson, Darlington 4 Harton 0.

The half time whistle sounded and half time saw the score: Darlington Wearside Youth U13 4 -Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

Harton kicked off the second half and Darlington, true to form pounced from the off and an exchange between Dom Agnew to Jamie Dodds to Jaxon Briggs saw Briggs send the ball to the back of the Harton net for his second goal of the day.

Darlington Wearside Youth U13 5 – Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

Harton found a five minute spell where they made several forays into the Darlington half but again the Darlington defence of Thomas Nesbaitt, Thomas Fletcher, Keiran Devlin and keeper Alex Bates handled these very well and the ball invariably was passed back into the Harton half of the pitch. Any attempts by the Harton defence to clear their lines found the ball back into their box, the Darlington side were literally ‘encamped’ in the Harton half of the field and again on 48 minutes Ryan Smithwhite passed to Jamie Dodds who again found Jaxon Briggs who netted for his hat-trick.

Darlington Wearside Youth U13 6 – Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

From the re-start the game was again controlled by the Darlington team and again on 56 minutes Lucas Reed passed to Jaxon Briggs who gave the goal keeper no chance and sent a great thunder shot to the top left corner of the Harton goal.

Darlington Wearside Youth U13 7 – Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

The Harton team were well beaten by now and a Darlington player snatched the ball from the kick off and Jaxon Briggs weaved into the Harton box and passed the ball to Jamie Dodds who scored a well deserved goal.

Darlington Wearside Youth U13 8 – Harton and Westoe all Stars U13 0.

The domination of the Darlington team throughout this game can be highlighted that the Harton team were restricted to only a handful of attacks into the Darlington box and even more so that the Harton team did not have a single shot on the Darlington goal for the whole match. The dominance was rounded off on 60 minutes which saw the ever active Jaxon Briggs ‘dance’ through the Harton defence from the left side of the box and from two metres pass the ball to Tommy Hunt who only had to tap the ball into the Harton goal.

The game ended with the score-line of Darlington Wearside Youth U13 9 – Harton and Westoe All Stars U13 0.

On signing the team sheets the Harton coach commented on the standard of team-work and individual skills of the Darlington team. He admitted that ‘today his team could not compete’ with the Darlington passing game. A fitting and true reflexion of the match.
