Darlington Football club would like to announce that Jonathan Jowett is to strengthen the Darlington 1883 management team.
Jonathan works for Greggs plc based at their Head Office in Newcastle, and is an Operating Board director with specific responsibility for legal, governance and compliance (including health and safety and food safety), risk management and corporate communications and government relations.
Now living in the north of the county, Jonathan has been a Darlo fan since the early 1970’s when he stood behind the goal in the tin shed at Feethams. His standout memories across the years include being in the Black Prince on the A2 in east London in May 1990 when the team coach pulled in following the victory against Welling to win the Conference, (and he has a photo with the trophy to prove it), that Wembley win, and more recently the astonishing first 20 minutes of the game against Whitby Town.
When asked about his appointment, Jonathan said, “the opportunity to be able to help our club continue its journey back up through the pyramid system is a privilege, and to be able to get involved is a boyhood dream. The next significant milestone will be when we kick off the first match back in the town, and every Darlo fan I know can’t wait for that. There’s loads to do, and I hope that my experience in ensuring organisations run efficiently and legally will add to the skills mix.
Director, John Tempest said “Richard Cook and I are delighted that Jonathan has agreed to work with the board. He will bring new processes and skills that every organisation needs if it is to be successful, as well as helping to the share the huge list of jobs that need to be done by our army of volunteers. We continue to seek to add to our management team, as we build what we hope will be a solid foundation for our future back in the town”.
