Hazel gives them the lead, but the Bucks hit back

AFC Telford United 2 Darlington 1

Goals: Hazel 16 mins 0-1, Williams 28 mins 1-1, Riley 92 mins 2-1

Quakers were beaten by a stoppage time winner at the New Buck's Head.

They led at one point through Jacob Hazel, but his goal was cancelled out by Charlie Williams.

Both teams had chances to win the game in the dying minutes, and after Jacob Render and Jacob Hazel were both denied, the home side won through Kian Riley with almost the last kick of the game.

New defender Luke Bell had a couple of good early touches in the middle of defence, then Aidan Rutledge made a good run before his final ball was intercepted.

Bell won a free kick for a foul about 25 yards out on 15 minutes. Paddy McLaughlin curled the ball in for Aidan Rutledge to head over the bar.

Quakers took the lead on 16 minutes. The ball was played forward towards Jacob Hazel, who won the ball in the air, and then guided the ball left footed past the stranded keeper.

Telford nearly levelled a few minutes later, with a free kick by Remi Walker that Bobby Jones pushed over the bar. From the corner, Rutledge cleared a near post flick off the line.

In Telford’s next attack, Jones got down to save a low shot by Charlie Williams from twelve yards out.

The home side levelled on 28 minutes. A long ball from the keeper saw Williams hold off Ciaran Thompson, then run through and beat Jones with a shot into the bottom left corner.

Quakers replied with a good run by Rutledge, when he cut in from the left past two defenders, and curled a right foot shot just over.

There was a chance just on half time when Hayden Atkinson crossed from the right, Ben Hedley got a touch, and Rutledge just failed to get his head the ball in front of goal

Half time: Telford 1 Darlington 1

Bell swopped positions with Thompson at the start of the second half into a more central role. Telford had the first chance of the second half, a right foot shot by Williams from edge of the area that went wide.

Telford increased the pressure and Jones saved at full stretch from Sam McLintock.

But at the other end, Jonah Lowes floated a free kick into the area for Max Kilsby to head over the bar.

Quakers made their first sub on 61 minutes, Dylan Stephenson coming on for Ellis Stanton.

Telford won a free kick on the right which was whipped in by Cranston, but Jones held on to the ball underneath the bar.

Quakers then had a let off when Telford got the ball in the net, but were flagged offside. The man who put the ball in the net needn’t have touched it as the ball was already going in.

Quakers then took off Ben Hedley, with Jacob Render coming on,  then on 83 minutes, Mark Beck replaced Rutledge.

A good run by Render nearly sent Stephenson away, but Lilly got in a good sliding tackle to deny him.

Telford forced an 88th minute corner as they upped the pressure in the closing minutes, but Quakers defended well, and at the other end a long throw by McLaughlin fell for Hazel, but he couldn’t turn to get in a shot.

Render nearly won it when he cut in from the left, beat three defenders, but Hall pushed his effort away and in stoppage time Beck sent Hazel through, but he fired wide of the left hand post.

Telford had a good chance, but Williams sidefooted wide from ten yards, but deep in stoppage time, Kian Ryley raced down the right and fired across Jones into the bottom corner.
