Darlo fan in Australia passes away
The club is very sad to learn about the passing of Darlington fan Alan Dooley at the age of 64 in Australia.
Alan, a lifelong Darlington fan, moved to Australia ten years ago, but was still mad keen about the club on the other side of the world. He started watching Quakers at the age of 25, and hardly missed a game, home or away, until he emigrated.
Even then, he still bought the new shirts every season, and did his best to convert his new friends to being Darlington supporters.
His brother in law, Donald Swan, said; "He may have a been a Brit living in Australia, but he never forgot his team, the people and the players of Darlington FC."
Alan's coffin was draped in a Darlington FC flag at his funeral.
We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Alan's family and friends. We will hold a minute's silence for Alan and other Darlington fans that we have sadly lost, at a game in the New Year.
