Alfie Myers-Smith signs for Quakers

Defender signs on the dotted line

Darlington have signed defender Alfie Myers-Smith, subject to National League and FA approval.

Despite getting injured against Newton Aycliffe, Alfie has done well in pre-season friendlies, which has been enough for the club to offer him a one year contract, that he has signed.

Alfie started his career as a 15 year old in Middlesbrough's youth system, and was captain of their under 18s before he moved into the under 21s, playing for them regularly in Premier League North.

He had a loan spell at South Shields in our league last season before he was released by Middlesbrough during the summer.

Manager Steve Watson said; "Alfie fitted straight into the team when he came into it, and his work ethic fits in with the rest of the squad. He's a very pro active full back, and is flexible, being able to play in a few positions."

We'd like to welcome Alfie to the club, and wish him all the best during his stay with us.
