Darlington manager Martin Gray says striker Amar Purewal is steadily overcoming his cruciate ligament injury.

Amar, who passed 50 goals for the club a year ago, suffered a cruciate ligament injury in January, and hasn’t played for Quakers since.

“Amar is slowly getting there. He had a little bit of a setback, but he’s overcome that and is steadily getting stronger,” said MG.

“He’s had the go-ahead to step up his training, so hopefully he won’t suffer any reaction.

“When he’s fit enough, he’ll probably go out on loan to get some match practice.”

MG is unwilling to set any sort of return date for Amar, and said; “You need to have patience with these sort of injuries, they can’t be rushed.”
