Darlo are looking to rebound after a disappointing opening day loss as they travel down to Bedfordshire to take on Bedford Town at the Eyrie Stadium for our first away game of the season. 

The Quakers come into this match after a 2-1 loss to Worksop Town, with the sole Darlington goal coming from Max Howells in the second half. 

Last season away from home is where Darlo gained most of our points and finished 6th in away form with 11 wins and four draws in 23 games for a total of 37 points. 

Darlington’s opponents, Bedford Town, are in their second season in the National League North this year and will look to improve on an 18th-place finish last year. 

The Eagles come into this match after a 1-0 loss away to Oxford City on opening day and will be looking to rebound with their first home game of the season. 

Last season at home, Bedford struggled to make the Eyrie Stadium a fortress and finished 20th in home form with eight wins and six draws in 23 games, with 40 goals scored and 37 conceded for a total of 30 points. 

The two sides met last season, with the most recent game being a 2-0 home win for the Quakers in February, with goals from Cedric Main and Jack Maskell. The previous meeting at the Eyrie Stadium saw the Quakers provide a comeback for the ages with a 4-3 win with goals from Will McGowan, Max Howells, Cedric Main and a last-minute header from Tom Allan.

Max Kilsby will be out for an extended period of time with a knee injury. 

Max Howells is having hamstring issues and should be out for a month  

Tom Platt is also having some hamstring issues and will miss about a fortnight.

Junior Gyamfi is a key player in the middle of the park for The Eagles. Captain of the club, Gyamfi is a player who gets all over the pitch, getting stuck in and controlling the play. He signed a new contract with the club over the summer. 

George Moncur was a key player for them at the end of last season who helped them retain their National League North status. He joined them after being released from Ebbsfleet and plays an attacking role behind the striker.  

Key summer signing Michael Gyasi joined Kettering Town on loan last week. 

Veteran defender Anthony Stewart joined them before their game with Oxford City on Saturday.
