Remember the promotion-winning years

Ahead of the Marine game on Saturday 11th April, there will be a great opportunity for fans to meet five of the club’s heroes from the 1980s and 1990s. All of them are going to be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.

  • Alan Walsh -- joined us from Middlesbrough in 1978 and scored 100 goals for us in six seasons to become the club’s record goalscorer with 100 goals in six seasons. Everyone will have their favourite long range Alan Walsh goal from that era!
  • David Speedie – signed for us in 1980 and scored 22 goals in 95 appearances before going on to play for Chelsea, Blackburn and several other clubs, as well as gaining ten caps for Scotland
  • Brian Little – the manager who guided us to two successive promotions from the GM Vauxhall Conference to the old Third Division between 1989 and 1991 after we had been relegated from the Football League. He went on to manage Leicester City and Aston Villa
  • Kevan Smith – probably one of the most whole-hearted defenders the club has ever had, he was a member of three promotion-winning teams in 1985, 1990 and 1991. He made over 350 appearances for the club in two spells.
  • Mark Prudhoe – arrived at the club from Carlisle in 1988, and was outstanding in the two title winning seasons. He left for Stoke City in 1993.

All of them will be in the downstairs bar at 12.30pm so fans will be able to meet them and be photographed with the Barclays Fourth Division Championship Trophy.  Pay on the day and season ticket holders can enter via reception.

They will be in the downstairs bar for 30 minutes before going upstairs to hospitality, so bring your cameras!

They will be introduced to the fans on the pitch before the Marine game at 2.45pm
