Darlington MIND offer free weekly workshops
By Ray Simpson
Catering for 11 to 18 year olds
During the six week holiday, Darlington Mind are offering a programme of online workshops, peer mentor schemes and drop-in sessions to 11 to 18 year olds, all free of charge and entirely online (via Teams). Students can earn a certificate of attendance from Darlington Mind (which would look great on CVs, UCAS forms and record of achievements).
You can register positions by emailing either Ian (Ian.Neale@darlingtonmind.com) or Matt (Matthew.hoss@darlingtonmind.com) or by filling in the attached form (or via here: https://forms.gle/VoRdoMKKabCheHCX7). Here is what they are offering:
Drop in Sessions: 1pm- 3pm Mondays.
Come and chat with other young people in the area for fun chats, and discussions on wellbeing and mental health. Facilitated by Ian or Matt at Darlington Mind.
Peer Mentor Scheme:
The main workshop runs 10am-12pm every Monday, with follow-up workshops on Tuesday 10am-12pm (starting 27th July). Students must attend: the main workshop, at least one drop-in session and the follow-up session workshop for the certificate. 14 capacity max for this session.
Mental Health Workshops: 1pm-2pm and 2-3pm (Wednesdays)
Session 1 (21st July): Mental Health Awareness
Session 2 (28th July): Self-esteem and Resilience
Session 3 (4th August): Body Image
Session 4 (11th August): Exam Anxiety
Session 5 (18th August): Self-Harm awareness
Session 6 (25th August): Mindfulness
MIND encourage young people to sign up to all the workshops, however if they would like to sign up to one in particular MIND can happily do that.
