Darlo add experienced defensive midfielder to the squad
Darlington are happy to announce the signing of Brad Walker on a short-term deal with the club.
Brad, 30, is a very experienced player who has spent most of his career in the Football League with over 240 appearances in League One and Two at clubs like Shrewsbury, Port Vale and Tranmere Rovers, as well as spending time in the National League most recently with Hartlepool United.
Brad started his career at Hartlepool as a youngster and made over 120 appearances in his first spell at the club before moving on to Crewe Alexandra. After a short spell at the club, he moved to Shrewsbury Town, where he would play two seasons at League One level before moving on to Port Vale and then Tranmere Rovers after that. Last season, he returned and played 20 games for Hartlepool in the National League.
Brad is mainly known as a defensive midfielder but can play a variety of roles, including at the back and a bit further in central midfield.
Manager Steve Watson discusses our new signing:
“Brad's very cool on the ball, a very measured footballer. His experience is exactly what we need.
“His calmness is exactly what we need at the moment, and he will get better and better.”
“He’s a good reader of the game, and we are delighted to have him with us.”
Brad goes straight into the squad against Bedford Town.
We’re buzzing to have you here Brad and we wish you every success during your time at the club.
