Darlington sign striker Adam Campbell
Quakers complete signing of striker
Darlington have completed the signing of striker Adam Campbell, subject to FA ratification.
Adan was released by League Two side Morecambe at the end of last season. He started his career at Newcastle United where he became the youngest player to play for the club in a European competition aged 17 when he played for them in the Europa League.
After several loan spells including at Hartlepool United and Gateshead , he signed for Notts County in 2015 where he stayed for two seasons. He moved to Morecambe two seasons ago and last season he had a loan spell with fellow League Two side Carlisle United.
Manager Alun Armstrong said: “Adam is one of those players I am looking for who is wanting to prove a point and get back into the professional game. We’ve done well securing him as he did have offers elsewhere to stay full time as well.
"He’s lightening quick, works extremely hard, has fantastic technical ability and is a natural goal scorer but since he left NUFC people have played him everywhere except where he is at his best which is as a number nine playing on the shoulder of the defenders and using his biggest asset, his pace. We’ll work with him to give him the confidence and the game time to get his career back on track and I’m sure he’ll become a big player for Darlington FC.”
You can watch an interview with Adam below.
We would all like to welcome Adam to the club.
