Darlington’s opening game of the season ended in a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Buxton. Goals either side of half-time were enough to give the Derbyshire side the victory.
The game also saw new signing Adam Nowakowski pick up a serious injury inside the first ten minutes of the game, which resulted in him going to hospital.
Lewis Gibbons, Kevin Burgess, Phil Turnbull and Nowakowski all made their competitive debuts for the club. The game also saw Graeme Armstrong come on in during the second half, as he continues his recovery from the injury he picked up during the play-offs.
Frickley Athletic finished 19th in the Evo-Stik Premier last season. In recent years they have struggled in this division, in the last five seasons their highest finish is 18th. In 2013/14 they finished in a relegation place, but were given a reprieve.
They suffered an opening day defeat, as they conceded twice in the final five minutes to lose 2-1 at home to Matlock Town.
The clubs have met previously, in one of Frickley’s biggest games in their history. They have only reached the second round of the FA Cup twice, the first time in 1985 when they lost 1-0 to Darlington at Feethams.
Kick-off at Heritage Park on Tuesday is 7:45pm
