Darlo look to get off to a good start to start pre-season as they travel away to Green Lane to take on Redcar Athletic on Saturday. 

The Quakers have planned a strong pre-season to help prepare for the National League North season, where the ultimate aim remains the playoffs. 

Heading into this pre-season, Darlo have been able to retain a good core of players such as the likes of Tom Platt, Scott Barrow, Ellis Stanton, Toby Lees, as well as gain the services of Dylan Stephenson, Max Kilsby, Bobby Jones, Max Howells and Mark Beck, who returns to the Quakers having previously spent two brilliant spells at the club with all looking to be in line to make an appearance at Redcar.

Darlington's opponents, Redcar Athletic, had a strong season last year, clinching their second successive promotion when they won the NPL Division East by 17 points, scoring 140 goals and gaining 105 points last season and have already started their pre-season with a game against Middlesbrough u21s on the 8th of July.

This game should prove to be a solid first test of pre-season as Redcar are a strong side who are only one division below the Quakers this season.

Redcar have been able to keep a good core of their promotion-winning squad, including Louis Johnson, Adam Boyes, Oscar Fletcher, and former Quaker Kev Burgess.

The Steelmen have also added to their promotion-winning side, signing six new players so far, including former York and Hartlepool players Connor Smith and Lewis Hawkins.
