Milestone for consistent Quakers player
Emma Carter becomes the 4th player to make 100 competitive appearances for the Quaker Women and join the 100 club under current manager Shaun Mackenzie. Emma made her 100th appearance in the 4-4 draw with Norton Reserves last week.
Emma signed for the Quaker Women in their inaugural season in 2021 after spending most of her youth playing for Darlington Spraire Lasses. Emma was part of the first ever Darlington Women’s competitive starting 11 in a 4-2 win over Durham United FC Women in the Durham FA County League.
In the 2024/25 season, Emma was awarded the first ever ‘Sara Hooper’ shield which was introduced as a special award to go to someone who gives everything, everytime they are on the pitch and a player who wears the Darlington shirt with pride.
Emma was top of the appearance list for a long time and was in line to be the first Quaker Woman to make it to 100 games. However, a long term injury kept Emma out for over a year on 98 appearances. Emma has worked extremely hard since her surgery to get back to full fitness and we are delighted to have her back amongst the squad.
Womens first team manager Shaun Mackenzie had the following to say on Emma making her 100th appearance."Emma has been excellent since day one. She came to the club at just 16 years old, playing her first competitive senior football and has been one of our most consistent performers over the past 5 years. She has been, and will continue to be an important member of the squad for hopefully many more years to come.
"After hardly missing any games and a regular starter, it was a big blow losing Emma for over a year. However, she remained ever present, always around her teammates to cheer us on most weekends and that shows what type of person she is. Waiting for her surgery and then working hard to get back to full fitness shows her character and I am delighted for her to have finally made that 100th appearance as it’s fully deserved and an excellent achievement, well done Emma!"
