Four teams have started with a perfect record, winning both of their games this week.

Skelmersdale United are the early pace setters sitting top of the table. On Saturday they came from a goal down to win 3-1 at Ilkeston. Marcus Harness gave Ilkeston an early lead, but two goals from Alan Burton and one from David Mitchley was enough to give Skelmersdale the three points. They picked up their second win on Tuesday night at home to Workington. Anthony Rendell and Mitchley scored in a 2-0 win.

Rushall Olympic are in second place, having also won both their games. On Saturday they won 2-0 at home to Ramsbottom United, Kris Taylor and Alex Reid the scorers. They followed this up on Tuesday, winning 3-2 away to Stamford. Luke Benbow opened the scoring for Rushall, before Jordan Smith and Ryan Robbins turned the game in Stamford’s favour. However, it would be Rushall who claimed all the points, as Jack Duggan and Bilal Yafal both scored in the final 20 minutes.

Buxton added to their victory over Darlington, by winning 1-0 away to Ramsbottom. Liam Hardy scoring the only goal of the game after ten minutes.

The final team on maximum points is Blyth Spartans. On Saturday they won 1-0 away to Barwell, thanks to Stephen Turnbull’s late goal. They followed this up with a 3-2 win at home to Whitby Town. Daniel Maguire scored for Blyth before a Michael Roberts double gave Whitby the lead. However, Robbie Dale scored twice in fifteen minutes to give Spartans the victory.

Mickleover Sports are undefeated after two games. They drew 0-0 at Ashton United, before winning 2-0 at home to Halesowen Town. Nicolantonio Degirolamo and Andrew Dales scored the goals for Mickleover either side of half-time.

Salford City came up from the Evo-Stik North with Darlington and they have four points from their two games. They drew at home to Marine 0-0 on Saturday, before scoring a late winner at Matlock Town on Tuesday. Gareth Seddon gave Salford the lead, but Joel Purkiss levelled with just five minutes to go for Matlock. However, Chris Lynch scored in stoppage time to give Salford the win, 2-1.

Marine and Ashton United both drew their opening games 0-0, and then draw by the same score-line with each other on Tuesday.

Whitby had been top of the table briefly after winning their opening game over Stourbridge 4-0. Matthew Waters, Ross Gardner, Michael Roberts and James Brown scoring the goals.

Last year’s second placed finishers, Workington, have started slowly only picking up a point so far. On Saturday they drew 1-1 at home to Sutton Coldfield Town. Justin Richards gave Sutton Coldfield the lead, before Scott Allison earned a point for Workington.

Hyde United were relegated into the league from the Conference North and started the campaign as one of the pre-season favourites. They drew their opening game 2-2 against Grantham Town, Ayrton Bevins twice gave Hyde the lead, but goals from Lindokuhle Ndlovu and Ellis Humble earned the visitors a point. Hyde’s other game saw them go down to a 2-0 defeat in Wales against Colwyn Bay. Chris Sharp and Robbie Booth both scored in the final five minutes of the game for the home side.

Colwyn Bay had lost their opening game at Halesowen Town. Jordan Fagbola being the unlucky man to score the only goal of the game into his own net.

Nantwich Town are the team to watch in the early games of the season. Their first two fixtures saw a staggering 16 goals. They had to come from behind in dramatic fashion on Saturday. At home to Stamford they found themselves 2-0 down inside twenty minutes thanks to goals from Daniel Clements and Andrew Hall. Josh Hancock and Paul Hudson levelled for Nantwich, but Stamford regained the lead through Gregory Smith. Amazingly despite trailing 3-2 with 20 minutes to go Nantwich turned the game round as Elliot Osbourne scored twice, along with goals from Stephen Jones and Liam Shotton, as Nantwich won 6-3.

On Monday night Nantwich travelled to Stourbridge, but this time they suffered defeat. Matthew Bell gave Nantwich the lead after quarter of an hour, before Karl Hawley levelled. Darren Thornton regained the lead for Nantwich just after half-time, but just a minute later Hawley again levelled. Stourbridge were able to bounce back from their opening defeat at Whitby, with goals from Matthew Dodd and Kayelden Brown earning them the points. Matthew Kosylo did pull a late goal back for Nantwich, but it was Stourbridge who held on to win 4-3.

At the bottom of the table are Frickley Athletic. Before their defeat at Darlington, they lost 2-1 at home to Matlock Town. Frickley had led through Jameel Ible, but two goals in the final four minutes won the game for Matlock thanks to Michael Harcourt and Joel Purkiss.

Lee Hughes joined Ilkeston in pre-season and the well-known striker scored his side’s first in a 2-1 win at Grantham Town on Tuesday night. Lindokuhle Ndlovu had given Granthan a lead in the first minute, before Hughes scored and a Liam Marshall strike gave Ilkeston the 2-1 win.

The final game of the week saw Barwell win 5-1 away to Sutton Coldfield. Liam Kay, Dominic Brennan, Kevin Thornton, Brady Hickey and Jamie Towers were the scorers for Barwell, with Ryan Pace getting the consolation goal for Sutton Coldfield.

This weekend Darlington are once again at home, this time against Barwell. They then travel to Workington on Tuesday night. Elsewhere leaders Skelmersdale United face Halesowen Town.
