As plans to return to Darlington progress, and the benefits of embedding financial stability and strategic discipline across all aspects of the Club over the last couple of years continue to provide opportunities for growth, the ongoing requirement to strengthen the collective attributes of the executive Board of Directors is sought.
In light of the Club’s medium term plans, this role presents a wonderful opportunity for the successful candidates to make a real impact on the Club’s future.
Whilst applicants with a variety of business and commercial skills will also be considered for interview (as potential support for the Club's existing Board), the individuals most likely to be considered for interview at this stage are those with a proven record of:
- Delivering Fan Engagement Initiatives and Enhancing Match Day Experiences (or comparable customer facing roles), or
- Long-standing Community representation
The successful individuals will be required to meet these essential criteria:
- Demonstrate appropriate levels of business acumen (i.e. previous Board experience)
- Offer flexible, but regular, time commitment each week (commensurate with the expectations from the agreed scope of the role and/or key deadlines), sharing the results of their work openly and transparently with the remainder of the Board
- Take on full personal and fiduciary responsibilities of being a statutory director of the Company
- Satisfy the FA’s Owners & Directors Test
- Be otherwise acceptable to the Company in accordance with the Articles of Association and the members of DFCSG, as major shareholders
- Commit to the position for a minimum of 12 months
- Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team
- Have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills together with high standards of professionalism and integrity in representing the Club
- Possess robust literacy, IT and numeracy skills
Given the commercially sensitive nature of the plans and initiatives that will be discussed and require to be implemented, the successful applicants must be prepared to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements before receiving a comprehensive discussion with the current Board in respect of those plans and what is required for the longer term benefit of the Club from their role over the next 12 months.
Closing Date: Friday 21 August 2015
Successful applicants will be notified and asked to meet with the Board of Directors at mutually convenient dates ASAP.
