LOSE Quaker

Frickley 3 Darlington 1

Quakers suffered their first defeat in nine games as they went down 3-1 at Frickley.

It was all Quakers in the first half, and if they had scored a second after Graeme Armstrong had broke through, then it would have been a different story.

Quakers were awarded a penalty after just 4 minutes. Terry Galbraith crossed to the far post where Bailey Gooda handled in front of Graeme Armstrong, and Galbraith sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot, but the referee demanded that the penalty be retaken, and this time Galbraith put the ball over the top.

Quakers went close on 8 minutes, when Lee Gaskell had a close range shot blocked by Sebastian Malkowski, and he quickly got to his feet and saved Leon Scott’s follow up

After Frickley had a goal disallowed for handball in the build up, Quakers had a great chance on 19 minutes when Leon Scott found Gaskell one-on-one, but Malkowski pushed his effort around the post.

Quakers piled on the pressure, and took a deserved lead on 31 minutes. Armstrong chased a long ball out of defence, forced Parkinson to hesitate, won possession, and coolly ran on and slotted the ball past Malkowski.

Quakers nearly got a second just on half time. Hunter ended a powerful run down the right wit ha cross that was cleared as far as Tom Portas, whose half hit shot towards goal was quickly seized upon by Cartman, who swivelled and fired just wide.

Quakers had another chance on 46 minutes when Portas got to the bye line and pulled the ball back for Armstrong, whose low shot was somehow blocked by Malkowski’s outstretched left leg.

Frickley levelled out of the blue on 52 minutes. Tyler Williams picked the ball up just outside the Darlington box, turned, and hit a terrific left foot shot into the top left corner.

Williams nearly scored another spectacular goal on 65 minutes, with a snapshot from the edge of the area that shaved the post.

Frickley went in front on 72 minutes, when a corner was floated in from the left and Tom Davie headed into the top corner.

And they went 3-1 up on 82 minutes when Jake Hazel broke down the right, ran along the bye line, and squeezed the ball past Jameson.
