Striker joins EFL club

Darlington can today confirm that striker Jack Maskell has completed a move to League Two club Barnet for an undisclosed fee.

Jack joined Darlington from NPL East club Dunston in the summer of 2024 and has scored 23 goals in 87 appearances for the club.

Supporters will particularly remember his winning header against Spennymoor during his first season, as well as his run last season of scoring in four successive games.

Jack’s performances over the past season have attracted considerable interest, with a number of clubs tracking his progress during the campaign.

Following discussions with Barnet, the two clubs have now completed the transfer documentation, with a sell on clause also included in the agreement.

Darlington Chief Executive Officer David Johnston said: “Whilst we are naturally upset to lose Jack, we are delighted to see him progress into the EFL. Jack joined us two years ago and has continued to progress under the guidance of Steve and Terry. We received several expressions of interest over the past few weeks and have now agreed his move to Barnet.

“I would like to thank Jack for his contribution to Darlington and wish him every success in the future. I will watch his progression with keen interest and pride.”

Manager Steve Watson said: “Jack has been an absolute pleasure to work with. He quickly understood what it took to step up to this level, changed his habits and developed into an extremely fit, aggressive player with an exceptional work ethic.

“We promised Jack that we would help him improve and would not stand in his way when the right opportunity came along. He has done very well for Darlington, we have done well for him, and his move into full time football is another feather in the club’s cap. We wish him all the very best.”

Everyone at Darlington would like to thank Jack for his efforts during his time with the club and wish him all the best for the future.
