The board of directors of Darlington Football Club would like to announce the signing of Lewis Gibbons.

Lewis, who was youth team captain at Sunderland earlier in his career, can play either in midfield or at right back.

Manager Martin Gray said; “He is a boy whom we can work with. He has got aggression, plenty of skill, and versatility. He has done well for us in pre-season, and played in different positions. Several clubs were looking at him, and we’re pleased that he’s decided to come to Darlington.”

Lewis started his career at Sunderland, and signed for Durham City in the Northern League earlier this year. He has played in centre midfield and at right back in Darlington’s pre-season friendlies so far.

Lewis is MG’s sixth signing of the summer, following Kevin Burgess, Jim Provett, Adam Nowakowski, Phil Turnbull and Rob Youhill.

We would like to welcome Lewis to the club, and wish him a long and successful stay with us.
