Darlington Youth sponsored by Darlington Building Society, The Flintlock Inn & BTS Fabrications, welcomed Redcar Town to Longfield in the TJFA second division

The home side started well, scoring in the 2nd minute of the match, the opportunity falling to Tom Horner after the keeper deflected a Liam Wynn left footed shot 1-0, Darlington continued to press forward with chances falling to Horner, Wynn and Slater, but it was the visitors who scored next with a ball clean through Darlington's defensive line, which the Redcar striker duly despatched past Darlington keeper Bradley Morrison.1-1, The home defence were kept busy, but a commanding Kian Slater was intervening and breaking up most of Redcar's offensive moves.

Eight minutes later, the hosts were in the lead again, A Wynn shot from just inside the 18 Yard box scuffed by the Keeper into the net 2-1, two minutes later Darlington were awarded a free-kick 20 yards from goal, Liam Wynn stepped up to take kick, the Redcar keeper got a touch to the ball, but the pace and power meant he was unable to keep it from crossing the line.3-1 Next goal went to Redcar, a very similar move to the first, a ball slotted between the defensive line for the striker to go clear and bring the scores level. HT 3-2

Into the 2nd half with Darlington starting the brighter, early chance to Wynn whose shot cannoned off the visitors crossbar, this was followed by the best passing move of the game, Alex Mason won the ball, moved it to Joe Hanson who picked the ball up midway inside the Redcar half and ran at the opposition defence, he laid it off to Wynn, who knocked it back to Hanson, a well placed pass found the feet of Tom Horner, who turned took a step forward and lobbed the on coming Redcar keeper 4-2.

The visitors continued to press forward and came close on a couple of occasions, but with Jack Browning throwing his body in the way of shots and Darlington's keeper Morrison sprinting from his line on a number of occasions the threats were quickly despatched, The Darlo keeper had the best brought out of him midway through the 2nd half with the Redcar team thinking they had brought the game within one goal, only to see the ball palmed around the post by a flying Morrison.

With many sorties down both wings by Hindmarch and Moody, and some good passing by Will Dixon, it was only a matter of time before Darlington scored again, and true to form Liam Wynn got his hat trick in the 63rd minute,Tom Horner put through ball into Wynn's path, he turned, made himself space and took the shot which flew passed the Redcar Keeper, 5-2. Darlington finished the game the stronger and their victory was a well deserved one!
