Defender happy to stay another year
Darlington are delighted to confirm that Ben Hedley has signed on for the 2026/27 season, subject to FA and National League approval.
You can see Ben's interview here:
Ben, 27, enters his eighth year at the club after joining the Quakers from Bradford Park Avenue at the start of the 2019/20 season and is the longest serving player at the club, making 231 appearances for the club and scoring two goals. The defender made 42 appearances last season, where he scored one goal, when he opened his league account for the club, scoring a wonder goal against Alfreton Town.
Manager Steve Watson spoke about having Ben committed for the next season: “One of the best pros that we have. The fact he can play right back, left back, right centre half, left centre half, centre midfield is vital when you are carrying a relatively small squad. Never complains wherever he plays. Even if he doesn’t play, he’s always right behind everything that we do. Proper team player. Will be vital for us moving forward.”
We at Darlington are thrilled to have Ben back with us for the 26/27 season and wish him all the best for this upcoming season.
