Mark Beck signs for Solihull

Striker signs for the National League club
Darlington striker Mark Beck has today left the club for National League Solihull.
Mark, who was in his second spell with us, has scored 18 goals in 28 league and cup matches for us this season, including a hat trick against Southport in the FA Cup, and doubles against Bradford PA, Peterborough Sports, Kidderminster and Scarborough.
His scoring form has attracted plenty of attention from clubs higher up the football ladder, and earlier this week Solihull triggered the release clause in Mark’s contract, that enabled them to speak to him and offer him terms, which he has accepted.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t match the terms offered by Solihull, and the player informed us that he wanted to move.
As stated in our Christmas update, both boards stress that the club is under no pressure to sell players, but once a player decides that he wants to leave and another club activates his release clause, there’s nothing we can do about that.
We are naturally sorry to lose Mark given what he has achieved for us, and we wish him all the best for the future.
The two boards are supporting Alun as he tries to find a replacement.
