Young defender signs for The Quakers
Darlington are delighted to announce the signing of defender Max Kilsby for the 2026/27 season, subject to FA and National League approval.
He spoke to Harvey Richards from Darlo Fans Radio about the move in his first interview:
Newcastle born Max, 22, is a versatile left sided defender, who came through the Carlisle and Newcastle academies. He had multiple loan spells at Annan Athletic, whom he helped achieve promotion to Scottish League One. He also went on loan to Queen of the South and then went on to join Annan in 2024 permanently. He has made a total of 142 professional appearances in his career, scoring 12 times.
Assistant Manager Terry Mitchell expressed his delight to have Max signed up for the coming season: “I’m delighted to get Max over the line. I know him from his time at the Newcastle Academy and he’s got a first class attitude.
"He’s a defender, but also a good technical player who can cover multiple positions down the left hand side, including left centre back, left wing back, left back or further forward.
"He’s someone we think can develop further and will add strength and depth to our squad. We are looking forward to working with Max.”
The club are excited to have Max playing in black and white and wish him every success with the upcoming season.
