Nathan Cartman Signs on For Quakers
Darlington have this evening completed the signing of Nathan Cartman from Harrogate Railway Athletic. You can watch an exclusive interview with him and manager Martin Gray.
Quakers have paid an undisclosed fee to obtain the services of the prolific goalscorer. Cartman started 130 games for Railway. In those games he scored a total of 67 goals. The forward has already banged in 36 goals in a total of 35 games this season, with 29 goals coming in 28 league appearances.
Speaking before his first training session with his new team mates Darlington’s latest recruit admitted he was sad to be leaving Harrogate RA but also looking forward to the future.
“I’m delighted to sign and I’m looking forward to getting involved, starting with training tonight,” said Nathan. “I love Railway Athletic as a club and how they work.”
“I’ve been there for three seasons so I’m no stranger to the club. It is sad to move away but I’m excited about what the future holds now. Hopefully I can progress but firstly its about promotion. We are not in a bad place at the moment and I’m looking forward to being involved.”
Tonight’s signing brings to an end a lengthy pursuit of the player for manager Martin Gray. Quakers have been monitoring Cartman’s progress for some time and the manager was delighted to get his man.
“I think all the managers in the divisions and a fair few in the leagues above are well aware of the season he has had so far. He’s a player that would interest any club and we’ve worked very very hard to get him to sign,” said Gray. “We’ve been monitoring him very closely and we’ve seen more of Harrogate’s games than anyone else. I am delighted to get his signature.”
Darlington supporters will have their first opportunity to see Nathan in action on Saturday when Darlington face Prescot Cables at Heritage Park.
