Darlington FC Youth, sponsored by Darlington Building Society, The Flintlock Inn & BTS Fabrications, travelled to North Ormesby, a TJFA second division clash.

The game started with the away side on the front foot, taking the game to North Ormesby from the off, the early chances fell to Matty Moody & Liam Wynn, both very close to opening the scoring, but both attempts wide of goal.

Darlington continued to dominate possession, but struggled to convert their domination into goals. The home side had few chances, however a defence splitting ball sent their striker clear, Bradley Morrison, Darlington's keeper, closed the striker down as he struck for goal, the ball ballooned into the air and dropped amongst the defence, however the North Ormesby striker was first to react and struck the ball into an empty goal 1-0.

Darlington continued to have the better of the ball, but a similar move from the home side once again saw the home striker clear on goal and took his chance well to make it 2-0 to the home side. As typical of Darlington this year, they did not let their heads drop, but continued to spur each other on. A tactically aware Thomas Hindmarch moved into a centre half position alongside Kian Slater to get close to the home striker. Midway through the first half, with the away side pushing forward, the Darlington opportunity came with the home side failing to clear the ball from their box, it fell nicely to the feet of Jack Browning who made a sweet strike from 6 yards to make the score 2-1.

As the match progressed Oliver Johnson Darlington's new signing and playing down the left was caught late by the North Ormesby right back, free kick to Darlington. Tristan Bowden Bloomfield stepped forward to take free kick, great ball into the heart of the home side’s goal mouth, Tom Horner latched onto it and knocked it past a scrambling keeper. 2-2.

Into the 2nd half, it continued much the same as the first, with Darlington on top, good work in the middle by Alex Mason, Jack Browning and Kian Roberts kept the home attacks to a minimum and with Tom Hindmarch now keeping the home striker quiet, all seemed to be going well, however a lapse in concentration by the lads saw the home side get another rare chance, however a superb double save by Bradley Morrison kept the score level.

As the game progressed into the last quarter with chances to the visitors coming and going, it was a corner to Darlington that would see them take the lead, a fantastic corner by Liam Wynn high and into the 6 yard box, saw Tom Horner claim his second of the game with a bullet header that gave the keeper no chance 3-2.

With Oliver Johnson and Matty Moody now switching wings, Darlington's final goal came from a penalty, Johnson who had been a pain all day to the North Ormesby's right back, was now one on one with the left back and his trickery in the box saw the left back leave his foot in and down went the tricky winger. Liam Wynn who had a typical centre forward’s game in holding up play and bringing others into the game, stepped up to take the penalty, 4-2. A well deserved victory to a hard working Darlington team, back to winning ways!

Darlington MoM went to Darlington debutant Oliver Johnson, well done Olly!
