Darlington Under16's played their fourth straight away match against Normanby Orange in the TJFA Challenge Cup. From the start the odds were against the u16s as they only had nine men throughout the game. Despite the disadvantage, Darlo found themselves 1-0 up courtesy of a backpost header by Matthew Beadle moments after hitting the crossbar from another header. Minutes after taking the lead, Normanby equalised after a low corner found its way to a free player who then coolly finished.
Restarting the second half with the score at 1-1, Darlo maintained fantastic work rate and the brilliant performances continued all the way through the second half. Normanby gained the lead mid way through the second half, scoring from a long range effort. The Under 16s were unfortunate to have two offside decisions go against their centre forward and a penalty appeal in the late stages. A great effort and a magnificent performance by all from Darlington.
Final score - Normanby Orange 2 - 1 Darlington u16's
