The match was a 1-1 draw with Halifax Town in the League Cup during August 1976, Rowles scoring Darlington’s goal.
The match was a second leg, the first game at the Shay ending 0-0, so a replay was required such were the rules of the competition back then. Quakers won 2-1 after extra-time, the goals both scored by Derek Craig.
