Skipper agrees new contract
Darlington have exercised the option of an extra year in captain Tom Platt's contract with the club, subject to FA and National League approval.
You can watch Tom's interview here:
Tom, 32, enters his fourth year at the club, having joined from Boston United in 2023 and has been a fan-favourite and a big leader who has made 113 appearances for the Quakers and will want to help push for the ultimate goal of the playoffs in the 26/27 season.
The midfielder made 45 appearances last season and even got involved with the goals, scoring four, including a memorable volley against Peterborough Sports in Matchday 39. Platt had previously only scored once for the club, with his sole goal coming in a 3-1 win against Workington in the FA Cup Qualifying Rounds in the 23/24 season.
Manager Steve Watson said: “He's (Tom) a bit of a rarity now. Solid as a rock, hard as nails, strong as an ox. Can do all the stuff that lets the 10’s and wide men have free rein. Totally committed to us and the club. Delighted to get him back on board.
The club is excited to have Tom back for another season and wish him all the best for the upcoming season with Darlo.
