Darlington reserves lost 5-1 at Prudhoe in the Wearside League on Saturday afternoon, but played with ten men for most of the game.

Quakers, who included former Under 18 players Nathan Stephenson and Connor Pearce, were reduced to ten men after 19 minutes following a red card, and they were up against it after that.

They showed plenty of character though to go a goal in front scored by Kieran Voss and held on to that advantage until half time.

But in the second half Prudhoe took over, and scored five times, one of them a penalty.

Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “Although we were 1-0 up at half time, we ran out of legs and we certainly weren’t helped by the officials.

“We have a long road to travel, we know where we are and we will get there.”

Quakers now have a free midweek, and their next game is at home to Annfield Plain on Saturday in the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup kick off 2pm.
