FA Youth cup first qualifying round

Shildon 1 Darlington 2

Quakers are through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup after winning at Shildon.

Darlington started very slowly against a very good Shildon team. Shildon were confident in possession and looked dangerous on the attack.

As the game went on, Darlington started to find their feet and scored the opener when Dale Milburn fired the ball into the bottom corner.

The hosts continued to press and forced regular saves from the Quakers keeper Carl Robinson.

After the break, Darlington started to get good time on the ball and Joey Smith was a constant threat out wide. Shildon equalised when a right wing corner was headed in by a Shildon defender.

Both teams had chances after that, but it was Quakers who went back in front through a Joey Smith cross which Charlie Wigley volleyed home.

The draw for the next round is on Monday, and the game to be played week commencing October 2nd
