Quakers’ latest pre season friendly saw them beaten 2-0 at home by EFL Division Two side Rotherham United.

The visitors, of whom former Boro boss Steve McClaren is director of football, caught the home side cold with two goals inside the first five minutes. One of their triallists scored from ten yards, then Kian Spence fired the second.

Quakers tightened up after that, and got more into the game. They nearly pulled a goal back just before half time, but Ellis Stanton had an effort cleared off the line.

Quakers again competed well in the second half, and played some good football, but couldn’t break Rotherham down.
