It will be a reunion for Quakers when they go to Guiseley for their last public pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Guiseley, from the National League National Division, have as their assistant manager Dave Penney, who was Quakers manager for three seasons.
And alongside him as assistant manager for those three seasons between 2006 and 2009, was current Darlo boss Martin Gray. Under the pair, Quakers reached the play off semi finals in 2008, only to be hit by a long list of injuries and lose to Rochdale over two legs.
The season after, Quakers were well involved in the promotion race, until the club went into admin for the second time and had ten points deducted. Penney and MG left at the end of the season for Oldham.
"I learned a lot from Dave during the time we worked together,"said MG. "He'd achieved two promotions at Doncaster as their manager, and he knew plenty about the game.
"We worked well together at Darlington, unfortunately when we had a great side in season 2007-08, several players picked up injuries near the end of that season and we couldn't quite win promotion.
"I've kept in touch with Dave, and I'm sure we'll be chatting about a few things on Saturday."
Quakers will include midfielder David Syers, who had two spells at Guiseley before and after his time in the pro game at Bradford City and Scunthorpe. Syers scored Quakers' equaliser in the 1-1 friendly draw at Gateshead on Wednesday night.
Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, while Under 12s go free as long as they're accompanied.
The postcode for Guiseley's ground is LS20 8BT, there is a free car park nearby.
