π₯ Match Preview
The Quakers look to continue their strong form in pre-season when they travel to Moore Lane to take on Newton Aycliffe on Tuesday night.
Darlington come into this game after their best performance so far with a 4-1 win against Stockton Town over the weekend, when goals from Cedric Main, Will Hatfield and two from Aidan Rutledge proved to be too much for The Anchors.
Darlo’s opponents, Newton Aycliffe, should be a strong local test with The Newtowners just missing out on the playoffs last season in the Northern Premier League East, which is the highest level of football the club has reached.
Aycliffe are managed by former Darlo player and manager Brian Atkinson, who will be looking to continue their unbeaten pre-season so far as they welcome The Quakers.
So far this pre-season, Aycliffe have played three games with two draws against Northallerton Town and Park View AFC respectively and a 2-1 win against Stockton Town.
The two teams have met before, in the Northern League in season 2012-13. Quakers beat Aycliffe 1-0 at Heritage Park, and Aycliffe won the reverse fixture at Moore Lane.
π€ Player Spotlight
Last week, the club announced the signing of veteran midfielder Nicky Deverdics, who has played against The Quakers several times for Blyth and was captain thofe club last season.
