Ten man Quakers lose at Dunston

Last away friendly

Darlington striker Jack Maskell returned to his old club and scored -- but Quakers lost 2-1 at the UTS Stadium.

Quakers had a good first ten minutes in which they caused Dunston problems, but before half time, they conceded twice and had striker Cedric Main dismissed for an off the ball incident.

Cedric Main nearly struck first with a low shot that the Dunston keeper pushed one-handed over the bar

Dunston opened the scoring from a through ball, then Main had a point blank shot saved.

Quakers were caught flatfooted from another through ball and Pete Jameson was given no chance. Cameron Salkeld nearly pulled a goal back but he fired ove the top.

But then Quakers were down to ten men when there was a scuffle folowing a challenge, and Main was shown a red card.

In the second half, Quakers played well with ten. Ben Hedley hit the bar from a free kick, and in the next attack Maskell was denied by a save at full stretch from the keeper.

Their efforts paid off when Andrew Nelson got to the bye line and put the ball into the near post for Maskell to nip ahead of his marker and prod the ball home.

And they nearly snatched a draw when Alex Payne headed just wide from a free kick near the end.
