Quakers sign Charlie Winfield from Barnsley

Defender arrives on a month's loan

Darlington have today signed left back Charlie Winfield on a month’s loan from Barnsley.

Charlie, who is 21, joined Barnsley at the age of 10, and worked his way through the youth set up before signing a scholarship with Barnsley in 2018.

He has played for the club’s Under 21 and under 23 sides, and two years ago went out on loan to Esbjerg in Denmark and played 16 times for them.

Unfortunately, he suffered an ACL injury after that which kept him out of action for several months. He had a loan spell at Alfreton last season, before he made his first team debut against Tranmere in the EFL Cup in August this year.

He will be on loan with us until the 25th November.

You can listen to an interview with Charlie here:

We’d like to thank Barnsley with their help in arranging the loan, and wish Charlie every success in his time with us.
