Quakers sign Josh Scott

Left-back joins Darlo

Darlington are thrilled to confirm the signing of left-back Josh Scott on a one-year deal.

The 22-year-old becomes the second signing Steve and Terry have added to the squad for the 2025/26 season, subject to FA and National League approval.

Josh was a former Newcastle United youngster, where he progressed through the ranks of the U18 and U21 teams, and was coached by our current assistant manager, Terry Mitchell.

On Deadline Day in January 2024, Josh decided to jump into men's football by signing for Queen's Park FC in the Scottish Championship. The move paid off for Josh, as he became a consistent member of the Queen's Park team, playing 44 games and scoring four times.

During his time at Queen's Park, he was part of the team that caused an upset and knocked out Rangers in the Scottish Cup fifth round.

Terry Mitchell knows all about Josh’s qualities and explained: "We’re delighted to bring Josh in — he adds real quality for the coming season and we’re confident he’ll be a hit with the fans. He brings good balance to the team and gives us flexibility as he can play in several positions down the left-hand side. He’s athletic, strong, can run all day and has real quality in his passing and crossing. Defensively, he’s very competitive and good in one-v-one duals. Just as importantly, he’s a great character who’ll fit in really well in the dressing room."

We are happy to have you with us, Josh — here’s to a big season ahead in a Darlington shirt.
