Darlington have today signed midfielder Will McGowan on loan from Gateshead.

Will, who is 22, started his career as a youngster at Sunderland and then Doncaster, before joining South Shields in the summer of 2021. He made 45 appearances for Shields, scoring six times, before joining Blyth in season 2022-23 firstly on loan, and then on a permanent basis.

He played 76 times for Blyth, scoring eight times, before transferring to Gateshead last summer.

He scored a hat trick for Gateshead in a pre season friendly at Hebburn and played four National League games for the Heed in August, before he was made available to us for a loan.

Gateshead have given us permission to play Will in the FA Cup. We’d like to thank them for their help with the signing. Will is on loan until 5^th January and goes into the squad for Saturday's home game with Southport.
