Quakers beat Black Cats in second friendly win

Good performance against two different Sunderland sides

Darlington 2 Sunderland 1

Quakers enjoyed another good victory in their friendly against Sunderland, who use 27 players in the coure of the game.

Quakers had more of the chances in the first half, even though Sunderland had a goal disallowed for offside.

Jack Maskell went close twice for Quakers and Will McGowan made a great run and fired just over, before a great run up the left by Ben Hedley ended with his low cross being turned into the net by a defender.

Sunderland put a completely different team out for the second half, and levelled from close range on the hour.

But Quakers fought back well, and went back in front on 68 minutes when McGowan, who was a constant threat to Sunderland, crossed from the left for Jack Maskell to power home a header at the far post.

They nearly added further goals, with Kallum Griffiths, Alfie Myers-Smith, Cedric Main and Maskell all going close
