Reece’s hat trick costs him £50!

Darlington striker Reece Styche walked away with the matchball from Saturday’s 4-2 away win at Brackley – but his magnificent hat trick also cost him £50!

The skipper, who scored 12 goals for us last season after he signed from Tamworth, scored a well-taken hat trick to take his tally to four in the first week of the season, and he’s agreed to stump up £50 for doing so.

The Darlo Sponsor-A-Goal scheme, run by Ian Roberts, has been running for several seasons, and has raised some much-needed funds for the club as well as providing some good fun along the way. On Saturday morning, fan Tony Waters pledged a sum of money if the hitman scored a hat trick, so Stychey pledged £50 if he did so.

For those who were at Brackley, or who followed the game on Darlo Fans Radio, the website or Twitter, know what happened next – he scored a hat trick in the first 23 minutes to set up a 4-2 win.

Reece said; “It’s a pleasure to pay out, it was good that somebody came up with the idea.”

Fair play to Reece—we all know what happened on a previous occasion when he took somebody up on a pledge..........

Another fan, Paul Prior, also donated £50 after the game.
