Richard Bunch became the 200th person to invest in the club last week when he bought some community shares. He spoke to Ray Simpson.

How long have you supported the club?

My dad took me to see my first Quakers match at Feethams in 1958. We were in the Third Division North at that time and played Accrington Stanley. I've no recollection of the score, however I recall Brian Henderson giving the Stanley winger a torrid time, we would call it GBH today ! I adopted Dave Carr as my favourite player, what a dashing centre forward.

When was your first game?

I think it was the same season we knocked Chelsea out off the FA Cup. After holding Chelsea to a draw at Stamford Bridge the replay was played on a midweek afternoon as we had no floodlights in those days. To avoid mass truancy we were allowed to listen to the match commentary on the radio in our classroom. What I would have given to see the game. You can see the highlights on you tube....well worth a look. Other memorable games were our League Cup matches with West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers when our record home attendance of over 21,000 was set in the latter game. As a child I and many others were allowed to climb over the perimeter fence to sit on the grass next to the touchline to watch the great Nat Lofthouse. No chance of that being allowed today ! We had so many great Cup ties at Feethams, matches against Arsenal and Everton stand out in my mind.

What are your most memorable games?

I think my favourite season was 1965/66 our promotion year. Like so many of our fans I consider Alan Sproates to have been our best player during my lifetime. He had such silky skills which he displayed at a time ballplayers received little protection from referees. Not all of our fans agreed at the time. I remember the 'hoof it forward brigade' were up in arms when he played short passes in midfield, but he and Ray Yeoman were the driving force behind that team.

Turning to the present time I think Martin has put together a team of talented part-timers, who would give some of our Football League teams of the past the fright of their lives. Like everyone else I had no idea how we would fare in the Northern League, or the Northern Premier and these last four seasons have been amazing. Talk about 'rising from the ashes'.

What does it mean to you to see the club back in the town? Why have you invested in the club?

We must keep this momentum going, as I wish to see us back in the Football League at the earliest possible time. These are the reasons I have invested in the club, and will continue to do so. I have enjoyed our time at Heritage Park immensely, at what has proved to be a pivotal period in our club’s history, however to move forward on and off the pitch we need to be back in Darlo to continue to grow the club. I would encourage all of our fans to back one of the clubs fund raising schemes to make our dreams happen.
