Darlington manager Martin Gray said that he was pleased by the second half performance as Quakers won 5-2 at Harrogate RA in the friendly on Saturday afternoon.
Gray introduced several triallists and youngsters in the first half, and gave former Harrogate RA player Nathan Cartman the captain’s armband.
Cartman scored twice in the first half on his return to the RA, who also scored twice before half time, but goals from Adam Mitchell, Tom Portas and Kev Burgess in a much-changed team at half time earned Quakers victory.
“It was great to get 90 minutes under our belts,” said Gray. “We played virtually two different teams in the game, and in the second half I thought we dominated the play. I was pleased with the performance.”
Rob Youhill and Adam Nowakowski both went off injured during the game, but Gray believes that their injuries aren’t too serious.
Quakers’ next game is against York City at Heritage Park on Monday night.
