Darlington's final pre-season game before the 2015/16 season starts, is away to local rivals Spennymoor Town on Friday night.

Brian Atkinson will once again take charge of the Quakers, ahead of the game he said "We will be looking to win the game even though it’s a friendly, the teams have had some good games over the last few years.

“Lewis Gibbons will probably feature, Graeme Armstrong will hopefully get some more game time and Nathan Cartman comes back in after his holiday."

The two clubs have had various meetings over the last three seasons, in which the Quakers have got the better of their neighbours. From the teams five competitive games, Darlington have won four and drawn one. The most recent meeting was the dramatic play-off semi-final at the end of last season, when two goals in the final 15 minutes saw Darlington come from behind to win 3-2.

In recent years many players have played for both clubs. Of those currently at the Brewers, centre-back Joe Tait, made the biggest impact at Darlington. Tait was part of the Northern League title winning side in 2013.

Following the game with Bishop on Tuesday, the club confirmed that three trialist's Alex Kitchen, Tom McNamee and Bradley Staunch will not be offered contracts.

Spennymoor are one of the favourites for promotion in the Evo-Stik First Division North this season and they kick-off their campaign away to Glossop North End.

Darlington's first game of the league season is away to Buxton, a week on Saturday.

Kick-off at the Brewery Field Friday is 7:45pm
