Manager agrees to stay at the club
Darlington FC are very pleased to announce that manager Steve Watson has signed a new two year contract with us.
When Steve joined us at the start of January, he was contracted until the end of the season, but after we defeated Farsley last Saturday to guarantee safety from relegation, negotiations on a new contract were finalised, and now Steve has agreed a two year deal.
Assisted by Terry Mitchell, Steve has guided us to safety by helping us win 12 out of 21 matches since he took over, and 10 out of the last 14. We had 19 points after we lost to Scarborough on 30th December, we've now got 55 and are safe with a game to spare.
Steve talked about his new deal, and also about Saturday's away game at his old club Chester, in this video interview.
Darlington chief executive officer David Johnston said; “I am delighted that Steve has committed himself to the club by signing a new contract. The turnaround in performances since his arrival has been outstanding, and I look forward to working with him on plans for the new season."
We are currently in negotiations with assistant manager Terry Mitchell and hope to make an announcement soon.
We are sure that every Darlington fan is delighted that Steve is staying at the club, and wish him every success for the future.
