Mayor & Mayoress of Darlington officially open 250-seat eatery
The Chinese Buffet has become the latest restaurant to open its doors at the brand new Feethams leisure development in the heart of Darlington.
Hot on the heels of ‘Feethams Fest’ officially launching the multi-million pound entertainment scheme, The Chinese Buffet opened on Monday (11 July) with an incredible traditional ‘lion dance’ to entertain guests and the gathered crowds. The Mayor and Mayoress of Darlington, Cllr Tom Nutt and his wife Gill, were among the special guests at the opening of the new restaurant, on the podium level of Feethams.

“With seating for around 250 people, The Chinese Buffet is one of the largest new restaurants in the town,” said Simon Hawkins, Development Director with Urban & Civic, the property development company behind the entertainment and leisure scheme. “Their fantastic menu means that we’ve further extended the dining options available at Feethams, and takes us another step towards achieving our goal of making this the number one destination in Darlington.”

Creating 40 jobs, this new The Chinese Buffet is the 11th venue for the national operator recognised as a leader in the field of ‘buffet style’ restaurants in the UK.
“The open theatre-style, Teppanyaki kitchen is a popular feature throughout all The Chinese Buffet venues, and we’re excited to be able to bring it to Darlington,” said Matthew Protheroe-Hill, manager of The Chinese Buffet. “We offer a huge range of Chinese dishes from different provinces, as well as our famous Dim Sum bar and Sushi bar, and we’re expecting children and adults alike to love our ice cream machine and chocolate fountain.”
Matthew said he was thrilled to be opening the brand new restaurant to diners this week. “We are very excited to be a part of this fantastic development,” he said. “We saw how popular the Feethams Fest event was and myself and the team are now looking forward to getting to know members of the local community.”
