Darlington Youth sponsored by Darlington Building Society, The Flintlock Inn & BTS Fabrications, welcomed North Ormesby to Longfield in the TJFA second division.

The hosts took some time to get going but managed to open the scoring with 12 minutes played. Quick combination play in the centre of midfield between Tom Horner and Corbyn Mitchell ended in the latter running through on goal before slotting past the Ormesby keeper to give Darlo the lead.

With the home side beginning to play much better, they doubled their lead in the 18th minute. A North Ormesby goal kick fell to Thomas Hindmarch and his shot from 35 yards sailed over the keeper’s head and into the back of the net.

Things got even worse for the away side in the 25th minute when Hindmarch netted his second of the game. The Darlington winger caught Ormesby in possession deep in their own half and he ran through on goal before poking past the outrushing keeper for his 9th goal of the season.

Darlington cruised into a four goal lead with 5 minutes remaining of the first half. Corbyn Mitchell squared the ball to Matty Moody inside the Ormesby penalty area and he fired in from 7 yards to net his 3rd goal in his last two games.

The Darlo defence dealt well with any attacks the visitors had and other than a couple of set pieces which Darlington keeper Bradley Morrison dealt well with, they struggled to cause the home side any major problems.

HT 4-0 (35 Mins)

The visitors came out in the second half with a bit more purpose about their game. They were awarded a corner kick 5 minutes into the restart which Darlington failed to clear, allowing the Ormesby striker to fire in from 6 yards.

The goal gave the away side a much needed lift and to add to their growing confidence they were awarded a penalty moments later following a foul inside the area. Bradley Morrison guessed the correct way, but it was a very well dispatched kick and Ormesby were back in the game.

With a physical game beginning to unfold, both sides worked hard to cancel each other out. But unlike the first half, chances were few and far between in the second period and the game slowed down due to a number of fouls, injuries and substitutions.

However, in the closing stages of the game, Liam Wynn wrapped things up with a very well taken goal from a tight angle.

FT 5-2 (70 Mins)

Man of the Match awarded by the North Ormesby manager was Kian Slater.
