Defender signs for his fourth year

Darlington are delighted to confirm that Toby Lees has signed on for the 2026/27 season, subject to FA and National League approval.

Toby, 29, enters his fourth year at the club after joining the Quakers from Blyth Spartans in the summer of 2023 and has been a consistent force in the back line of Darlo, making 136 appearances for the club and scoring ten goals. The defender made 45 appearances last season, where he scored five goals, including a goal in the 5-2 win over Peterborough Sports at Blackwell Meadows.

Manager Steve Watson spoke about having Toby committed for the next season: “Toby has been one of the most consistent players since I and Terry got in the building. Probably a bit of an unsung hero regarding the stats. If you look at the stats in our league, Toby’s in the top 10 constantly.

"He’s virtually always available. Very robust. Can play the middle of a three and or the right of a two. Very reliable personality and very committed. Delighted to get Toby back on board”

An interview with Toby will come out tomorrow.

We at Darlington are thrilled to have Toby back with us for the 26/27 season and wish him all the best for this upcoming season.
