Shildon Under 18s 1 Darlington Under 18s 3

Darlington Under 18s won their first game of the season in the Durham County Under 18s league.

The hosts started off with the majority of the possession and created goalscoring chances often.

Their early pressure paid off when Shildon scored the opener from 30 yards with a stunning left foot shot into the top corner.

The visitors slowly gained in confidence and grew into the game as half time approached. The second half was dominated by a determined Darlington team who constantly knocked on Shildon’s door, the pressure paid off when dale Milburn slid a lovely ball into Charlie Wigley who took the ball on the half turn and his deflected shot went in.

Darlington continued to ask questions of the Shildon goalkeeper and Ethan Harker met a deep cross to head home in the middle of the goal.

It was one minute from the end of the game when Wigley scored his second, scoring a cool sidefoot volley into the corner from a Dale Milburn pass.

It was an excellent second half display.
