Good 3-0 win over Shildon Railway

Darlington FC U23s capped off their season with an impressive 3–0 win over Shildon Railway in an entertaining contest against a strong and well-organised young side.

In a lively encounter, Darlington started brightly and were rewarded when Nelson opened the scoring, setting the tone for the afternoon. Further goals from Mortimer and Mitchell ensured the young Quakers secured all three points in convincing fashion.

Despite the scoreline, the match proved competitive throughout, with Shildon posing a number of challenges. Goalkeeper Liam McGrath played a crucial role in preserving the clean sheet, producing three excellent saves at key moments.

Manager John Walters reflected on the performance and said; “This was probably not our best performance, but credit to Shildon—they made it difficult for us. Liam made three very good saves to keep the clean sheet.

“To finish a tough week with six points and no goals conceded is very pleasing. Two wins in four days, scoring five and conceding none, is a fantastic way for these lads to end the season.”

The result highlights a strong finish for the U23s, demonstrating resilience, squad depth, and a winning mentality as they close out the campaign on a high note.
